Ruth Doucet Soileau

Opelousas Funeral services for Ruth Doucet Soileau, age 94, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
Father Albert Nunez will celebrate the Mass.
Ruth a resident of Wasington, LA., passed away on April 11, 2010. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Altar Society, La Farm Bureau , Cattleman Association and she was member of the Washington Ladies Rosary Group. Ms. Ruth dearly loved her faith, family and friends. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She also loved to travel in the U.S. and Abroad. She was a wonderful seamtress. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and greatgreat grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of seventy three years Mr. Shirley Joseph Soileau of Washington, her daughters: Gloria Soileau, of Washington, LA., Gail Phillips and husband J.L., of Opelousas, Shirley Marcus and husband Malcolm of Opelousas, and Carolyn Macip of Washington, LA., brothers: Clyde Doucet and wife Emmerite of Washington, LA., and Lloyd Doucet and wife Gertie of Washington, LA., nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her three brothers: Hewitt, Raphael and Francis Doucet, one sister Melba D. Soileau, one grandchild Carlos Macip, one soninlaw Rayburn Macip, and three great grandchildren.
J.L. Phillips and Allison Doucet will be the readers.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
