Ruth Carroll

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Lafleur Carroll, age 83, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Paul Bienvenu will officiate the service.

Ruth was a native of Lawtell and was a resident of Opelousas. She died on Friday, September 2, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.

She enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. She was a teacher for over 30 years in both St. Landry Parish and Lafayette Parish Schools. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and was also an Eucharist Minister and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was a volunteer for over 20 years at Opelousas General Health System.

Survivors include her son, Barry Carroll and wife, Janet of Lafayette her daughter, Sonya Carroll Doyle and husband, Alan of San Antonio, TX four grandchildren: Erin Barrera of San Antonio, TX Meghan Juneau of San Antonio, TX Brian Carroll and wife, Patricia of Plano, TX and Melanie Carroll Shammout and husband, Jullian of Weehawkin, NJ six greatgrandchildren, and her godchild, Linda Miller Billeaudeaux of Breaux Bridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Joseph Lafleur and Leona Dupre Lafleur three sisters: Ursula Menard, Thaddeus Adams, and Rebecca Beckie L. Aucoin and two brothers, Lee Lafleur and J. C. Lafleur.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, September 5, 2011, from 1 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made to St. Jude in memory of Mrs. Carroll.
