Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Russell Carriere, age 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery. Father Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Carriere passed away on Friday, April 06, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital in Alexandria, La. he was born in Opelousas, La on November 7, 1927. Mr. Carriere served our great Country in the U.S. Air Force and then returned to Opelousas and started a house painting business until his retirement. Mr. Russell loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He is going to be sadly missed by all.

Mr. Russell is survived by his sisters, Bernice Walkowiak of Opelousas and Yola Huckaby of Opelousas.

Russell is preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Eyola Deville Carriere, Sr. brother Clement Carriere, Jr. and sisters, Frances Noel and Mary Cryer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 2 pm to 8 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 am until 9:30 am in the funeral home.

A Rosary service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
