Roy was born in Opelousas, Louisiana to Mary and Steven Dupuis on August 12, 1957. A resident of Lafayette, he passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. Roy graduated from Opelousas Catholic School in 1975. He played fullback and was a member alongside his cousin, Russell Dupuis, and dear friend, Timmy Thibodeaux on the Opelousas Catholic team that won the 1974 State Football Championship. Roy and his wife, Jenny, were set up on a date and have been together ever since. They married on April 7, 1984. For over 20 years, he ran Roy’s Texaco in Opelousas. He never met a stranger and prided himself on offering a full-service experience. He was known for his kindness to new drivers and the elderly providing old-fashioned personal service with a big smile. His favorite job he ever had was working at a kennel in Driskill Mountain, Louisiana training retrievers.
Roy loved being outdoors and cherished the camaraderie of being with his family and friends. He loved hunting, frogging and offshore fishing where he liked to “catch” fish and not just go fishing!
His family will always remember Roy for his kind, compassionate and loving nature as well as his storytelling and humor. He was happiest when he was spending time with his four grandchildren. Roy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be sadly missed by all.
Roy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jennifer “Jenny” Dohmann Dupuis; his daughter Kimberly “Kim” Dupuis Bourgeois and her husband Jamie and their son Taylor Brooks, his son Roy Jacob “Jake” and his wife Lacey and their three children, Adyson Claire, Landry Renee and William Jacob; brothers and sisters: Jim Lopez and wife Babs, Steve Dupuis and wife Laurie, Stephanie Morris and husband Mike, Danielle Jones and husband Bert, Charlie Dupuis and wife Jackie.
