Rosie Balsamo Thibodeaux
Opelousas Funeral services for Rosie Thibodeaux age 86, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bridget Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Bridget in Lawtell. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass.
Rosie was a resident of Opelousas. She died on February 8, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System. Rosie and Mr. Ivy were married for 63 loving years. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that will be sadly missed by all her loved ones. She was a home maker she enjoyed cooking and baking, she always had Sunday lunch for her family. Her passion in life was her family. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell and taught religion and loved praying the rosary, when she was younger she loved to keep her yard full of flowers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Ivy J. Thibodeaux Sr., of Opelousas, her children Morris Wayne Thibodeaux of Opelousas, Robert Thibodeaux of Houma, Ivy J. Thibodeaux, Jr. of Opelousas, Edwin Thibodeaux and his wife, Debbie of Youngsville, Lucille Thibodeaux Brown and her husband, Leroy of Opelousas, Mary Ann Thibodeaux Bertrand and husband, Barry of Abbeville, sister, Lucille Bartlett of Pine Hurst, North Carolina, nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Lena Albanese Balsamo ,one son, Mark Anthony Thibodeaux, brothers Joe Balsamo and Roch Balsamo, two sisters Josie Gomez and Dolly Keys.
A Rosary will be prayed on Friday evening at 6 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Ivy, Morris, Edwin, Trey Thibodeaux, and Leroy Brown.
Horary pallbearers will be Blake and Dustin Thibodeaux.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 3 pm to 9 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 am until 10:30 am in the funeral home.
