Opelousas----- Funeral services for Mrs. Rosemary Chachere Harmon, 87, will be held
at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our
Lady Queen of Angels Church. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in
Opelousas. Father Angelo Cremaldi will celebrate the Mass and Nancy Tabb Marcantel, a friend of the family, will provide the music.
Rosemary was born and resided in Opelousas. She attended SLI, now known as the University of Louisiana. She passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008, while in the skilled nursing wing of Senior Village. She was married to Mr. Clarence Harmon, Jr. for 58 years and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cooking and caring for her family. She was a member of Women of Woodcraft, enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband and family.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Neal Harmon and his wife, Clare Levert Harmon, of Port Allen; her daughter, Debbie Harmon Payne, of Lafayette; her brother, J.D. Chachere and his wife, Eldora, of Houston TX; and her sister-in-law Mary Helen Chachere of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Vaughn Harmon and his wife, Victoria; Sean Harmon and his wife, Cindy; and Brad Harmon and his wife, Dana; as well as three great grandchildren, Jack Harmon, Reid Harmon, and Grant Harmon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Oneal Harmon, Jr.; parents, Joseph D. and Leonie Barry Chachere; a brother, Barry Chachere, and a sister, Shirley Rita Chachere.
The Harmon family would like to thank Rosemarys devoted caregivers who became members of her family: Joyce and Gil Gallow, Marie Wright, Marilyn Williams, Merline Auzenne, Patsy Pitre, and Gilda Soileau. They would also like to thank Dr. Richard Harmon, Dr. Mike Burnell, and Mrs. Judi Lucito.
Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday, October, 1, 2008, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Thursday, October 2, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 AM until the time of services.
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
