Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Mae Lalonde Edmond, age 91, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Rose Edmond passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 20, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System. She was a native of Pecaniere and a longtime resident of Opelousas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother fondly known as Grandma. She was an experienced seamstress who also enjoyed reading and crocheting. She lovingly crocheted Afghans for each of her children, each grandchild, and each greatgrandchild.
She is survived by two sons, Nelson Edmond and wife, Shirley of Opelousas and Ronald Edmond and wife, Catherine Katrina of Leonville one daughter, Johanna Noel and husband, Gerald of Opelousas one sister, Viola Stelly of Breaux Bridge six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Doris Edmond parents, Alcee Lalonde and Madeline Laviolette Lalonde brother, Francis Lalonde sister, Laura Lalonde and two greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Sunday, visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Rosary service will be held at 7 pm on Saturday evening in the funeral home.
