Rose Marye Mestayer Bienvenu
Opelousas Memorial services for Mrs. Rose Marye Mestayer Bienvenu, 85, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Private graveside services and interment will be held at a later time. Father Paul Bienvenu will conduct the Mass.
Mrs. Bienvenu was a native of Kaplan and a long-time resident of Opelousas. She died peacefully at home on Friday, July 13, 2007, in the company of family members.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister. She took great joy in her children and grandchildren and blessed them with her sense of humor, zest for life, independence, and strong will. She loved to work in her yard and it was evident to all who visited her. She enjoyed traveling and was able to see much of the United States and Europe. Cooking was a passion that delighted both family and friends. After her retirement from St. Landry Bank, she worked countless hours as a volunteer for Doctor's Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Church. Her deep faith in God will make her last journey the best of all those she made during her life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Bo and Mattie Bienvenu of Baton Rouge; Lessley and Taylor Cain of Lake Charles; Dale and Jan Bienvenu of Jarreau; Steven and Paula Bienvenu of Opelousas; and Keith and Ann Bienvenu of Washington; her sisters: Lorraine Mestayer Boudreaux of Baton Rouge; and Delores Mestayer Perkins of Opelousas; her grandchildren: Christine Cain of The Woodlands, TX; Celeste Guttierrez of Dallas, TX; Mark Bienvenu of Baton Rouge; Robert Bienvenu of Atlanta, GA; Ashley Jarrell of Houston, TX; Beau Bienvenu of Fort Collins, CO; Barry Bienvenu of Baton Rouge; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Oswald Mestayer and Norma Mestayer Gardner; her daughter, Mary Susan Bienvenu; and her grandson, Michael Todd Bienvenu.
