Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Mae Carriere Robin, age 90, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery.
Father Kenneth Domingue will celebrate the Mass. The Readings will be done by Kaitlin Rose Simoneaux, Shelley Stoute Andrus, and Jennifer Stoute Normand. The gifts will be presented by Christina Marks Prudhomme and Julie Robin Wartelle. The musical selections will be provided by Debbie Richard.
Rosa was a native and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at her home. She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening, spending time visiting, cooking, and talking on the telephone to her friends and family. She loved to listen to music on the radio and watching baseball games. She was a wonderful and loving wife, and a very devoted mother, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
Survivors include one son, Gregory James Robin and wife, Paula Guidry Robin of Port Barre four daughters: Barbara A. Robin Soileau of Port Barre Rose Marie Robin Dunn and husband, James A. Dunn of Baton Rouge Virginia A. Robin Marks and husband, Jude B. Marks of Port Barre and Mary A. Robin Stoute and husband, Gary W. Stoute of Port Barre sister, Argentina Tina Carriere Wyble of Port Barre daughterinlaw, Jenelle Dupre Robin of Leonville 17 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Robin her parents: Adam Carriere, Sr. and Annette Darbonne Carriere son, George Leon Robin soninlaw, James R. Soileau two brothers: Adam Carriere, Sr. and John H. Carriere three sisters: Mildred Carriere Moreau, Lydia C. Carriere, and Lena Carriere LeBlanc and numerous halfsisters.
Pallbearers will James A. Dunn, Gary W. Stoute, Jude B. Marks, Mark J. Soileau, Dustin J. Robin, and Jake M. Robin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Abraham Abe Ackel, Hunter J. Simoneaux, and William Will Gibson.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, April 4, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the following people: Caretakers of NCAMedsource, all the nurses and aides from St. Landry Home Health, and all of the physicians who assisted her in her time of medical need.
