Rooney Pitre

Opelousas Funeral services for Rooney Sylvester Pitre will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Austin Leger will conduct the services.

Rooney was a resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 82. She loved to work in her yard, planting flowers and keeping her yard clean not a leaf to be found she loved her children and granddaughter, Cassidy. Rooney was a great cook and loved taking care of her family. She is going to be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Durand and her husband, Charles of Baton Rouge and Jacqui Sanchez of Baton Rouge, grand daughter, Cassidy Sanchez of Baton Rouge and one sister in law, Myrtle Ragsdale of Opelousas, nephews, Gary Ragsdale, and his family of Humble Texas, and Michael Ragsdale and his family of Katy, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vorise Pitre, her parents, Alton and Ann Richard Sylvester, special aunt and uncle Dillard and Lillian Sylvester.

A special thanks to Dr. Guidry, Dr. Vasquez, Dr. Miller and OGH ICU staff.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. A rosary service will be prayed on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
