Ronald "Doc" Lafleur, Sr.

September 12, 1936 — April 7, 2020

WASHINGTON- With regards to COVID-19 mandates, funeral service will be limited to 10 people at one time.  Burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.

Ronald Aaron Lafleur Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully at his home at noon on April 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  He was a member of various organization around the community.

Ronald and his Mirror twin brother, Donald, were born on September 12, 1936 in Opelousas to Thomas Teurling “Took” Lafleur and Marguerite David Lafleur

Doc was a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana earning his Bachelor of Science. He married the love of his life, Ludema Thisthlethwaite, on January 27, 1959 while attending Texas A & M where he obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine and was an avid Aggie fan.  He practiced at the Animal Medical Center in Opelousas where he faithfully devoted his time to serving the needs of large and small animals. He loved roping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and was a master joke teller, who knew no stranger. His generosity was endless.

Survivors include: His loving wife Ludema; five children: India Andrepont (Brent), Stephanie Stevens (Johnny), Melissa Duhon, Ronald “Ron” Aaron Lafleur Jr. (Kimbra) and Dona Collins (Bryant “Tiger”).

Ten grandchildren: Dana D. Luna (Anthony), Hannah Saucier (Jacob), Steven Duhon (Kristi), Dustin Duhon (Sheyna), Mamie Harris (Marshall), Emily Warren (Lee), Sarah Sevens, Tucker Collins (Harley), Brooke Collins (Pace), & Katie Collins.

Seventeen great grandchildren who all loved visiting their “Pawpaw Doc”: Mikey Galindo, Ivory Luna, Jordan Luna, Grace Luna, Avery Collins, Razzi Duhon, Jacelyn Collins, Brantley Collins, Evan Saucier, Aspen Duhon, Jolie Duhon, Paisleigh Collins, Porter Warren, Blakelyn Collins, Aria Savoie, Atleigh Harris, Tiger Collins.

His twin brother, Donald Lafleur (Nancy) of Colfax, His sisters, Marguerite Hunt of Opelousas & Mamie Steckler of Maurice, Brother Dale Lafleur (Cheryl) of Opelousas and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Teurling “Took” & Marguerite David Lafleur his sister Betty Clair Veltin Patrick, his brother Thomas Teurling “Took” Lafleur, his nephews Tom Lafleur of Colfax and Keith Veltin of Opelousas.

Escorting “Doc” to his final resting place will be his grandson’s Steven Duhon, Dustin Duhon, Tucker Collins, Mikey Galindo, Jordan Luna, his nephew Lawrence Thistlethwaite, and grand son-in-law Anthony Luna.

The family sends their special love and thanks to Dr. Ty Hargroder and the staff at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
