Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Joseph Richard, age 59, will be held at 1: 00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell.

Rev. Paul Bienvenu will officiate the services.

Mr. Richard was a native of the Prairie Ronde area and long-time resident of Opelousas. For the last four years Mr. Richard resided in Port Barre, La. He died on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at his residence in Port Barre. Ronald worked as the Assistant Manger of the old Mr. Cook Restaurant in Opelousas for 21 years. He enjoyed music and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, Barron Richard of Opelousas; brothers, Joseph N. C. Richard and wife, Audrey of Opelousas; Bobby Richard of Opelousas; sisters, Beverly Soileau and companion, Raymond Speyrer of Port Barre, Bonnie Marks of Opelousas, Sandra Deville and husband, Michael of Opelousas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Richard also had a special friend and helper, Ms. Jennifer; and his former wife, Alicia Lee.

Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Easton and Elsie Thibodeaux Richard; brothers: Roger Richard, Terell Richard and Darrel Lyons; sisters: Mary Dupre and Mildred Soileau; nephew, Brian Duhon; and great-nephew, Jacob Olivier.

Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday, December 6, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 11:00 a.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Friday.
