Ronald Pitre

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Ronald E. Pitre on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Ronald, age 71, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Opelousas General Health System.

Ronald was dedicated employee of LouAnna Foods for 45 years. He was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Ronald enjoyed hunting and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He truly cherished time spent visiting with his family and friends. Ronald will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Fontenot Pitre; son, Kyle Edgar Pitre and wife, Shonette Miller Pitre; grandchildren who affectionally knew him as “Poppie”, Claire Lisa Pitre and Austin Kyle Pitre; sister, Patsy P. Doucet; and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionally knew him as “Nonky” ,“Nonk Ron” and “Uncle Ron”.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Pitre; and his parents, Edgar A. Pitre and Lillian Ledoux Pitre.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the ER/ICU staff at Opelousas General Health System who cared for him during his time of need. They would also like to thank everyone who offered their support and prayers during this difficult time.
