Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at an 11:00 AM Mass of
Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Barre, Louisiana for
Ronald W. Carriere, 80, who died on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his residence in Port
Barre, Louisiana.
Entombment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Mausoleum.
Reverend Daniel Picard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Barre
will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be his Godchild, Denise Castille.
Survivors include his beloved wife Patricia Pat Beauxis Carriere of Port Barre.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lessie Nezat Carriere and Wilder Carriere one
sister, Gloria Carriere Lloyd his inlaws, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Beauxis and three brother inlaws, Bill Lloyd, William E. Futral Sr., and Jack Beauxis.
A native and resident of Port Barre, LA all of his life, Ronald was a graduate of SLI and
LSU. His dedication to education was evident throughout his life. He was a teacher and
principal of Port Barre High School and retired as Assistant State Superintendent of
Education He served on the St. Landry Parish School Board from May 6, 1976 until the
present day, one of the longest standing board members.
Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He was a
member of the Lost and Found Riding Club.
Ronald was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Port Barre and a member of
the Knights of Columbus.
He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Raymond E. Martin III, James A. Martin II, Christopher Williams,
Matthew Williams, George Emami, Martin Poirrier, Billy Futral, and Eric Futral.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the late William E. Futral Sr., the late Eugene Greif, David
Bihm, Mark Nezat, Billy Burpeau, Dr. John Burpeau, and the late Bill Lloyd.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre,
Louisiana on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until
time of services.
A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre.
