Ronald Burleigh

Opelousas Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Ronald Louis Burleigh. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Father Michael Champagne will officiate the services.

Ronald was a native and longtime resident of Church Point. He passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the age of 71. He was a Proud Farmer who had agriculture in his heart. He was also a truck driver who transported many crops. He was a member of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International, Cattle Producers of LA, LA Cattlemens Assoc., St. Landry Cattlemens Assoc., and Farm Bureau. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include one son, Hugh Louis Burleigh of Lewisburg one daughter, Alaina Burleigh Pierret and husband, Neal of Opelousas two stepsons, Stephen McGue of Austin, TX and Benjamin McGue of Grand Prairie one sister, Barbara Gail Burleigh Thibodeaux and husband, Kenneth of Opelousas niece, Lydia Thibodeaux Aymond and husband, Scott and their children, Alyssa, Emily, and Cary all of Port Barre two stepsons, Benjamin McGue II and Zachary McGue, both of Grand Prairie the mother of his children, Janet Britt Burleigh of Grand Prairie and a special friend, Edward Joe Singleton of Church Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Burleigh and Regina Bihm Burleigh and nephew, Gregory Andrew Thibodeaux.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
