Ronald “Ronnie” Aymond passed away at Opelousas General Hospital on July 28, 2021 at the age of 70.
He was a longtime resident of Port Barre but spent his last years with his son and his family in Krotz Springs, with the Kaisers, who loved him like their own family. Ronnie was an ironworker until the physical demands of the job became too much, spending many years working for DOW Chemical. He was a lifetime member of the Iron Workers Local Union No. 623. After his many years working for the Union, he went to work as a seismic inspector for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, where he eventually retired. After retirement, Ronnie spent most of his time with his beloved pups, Rocky and Badger. He had a great love for dogs, especially his! He loved sweets, any kind. Often times he could be found dipping into the candy jar or sneaking a sweet treat. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved when his son and grandsons caught fish or killed a big buck!
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ronnie was an only child and only had one son whom he loved so much, Yancy, who he affectionately called “Booga”. He adored his three grandchildren, Wyatt, Cole and Avery and daughter-in-law Renee. He had a strong bond and special love for his Aunt Irene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lelia Aymond.
A Graveside Service will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Krotz Springs at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 with a Memorial Service to follow at the Krotz Springs Community Center. Family and friends are invited to attend.
