Robert Wyble

November 20, 1952 — January 25, 2018

On January 25 after a heroic battle with cancer, Robert Craig (Bobby) Wyble departed peacefully from this life surrounded by his family and in the arms of his soul-mate and wife of 45 years.

Bobby was born and raised in Port Barre & after graduating from Port Barre High School in 1970, he proudly served our country in the United States Navy until 1974. After his return home from his military service, he was a dedicated and loyal employee at Opelousas General Health System for 35 years. Bobby was a devoted Roman Catholic, a loving husband and a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He had a passion for cooking, especially his cajun meals for his family and friends. He had a love for animals and he loved spending time with family and watching football, especially the New Orleans Saints. Bobby's wife, Kitty, believed that the "main purpose of a sacramental marriage is to help get one another into heaven." Bobby fully cooperated and received the necessary sacraments of the Roman Catholic

Church needed to transition into his eternal life. Even though Bobby didn't understand the immense amount of suffering he endured, he never complained and kept a positive outlook until the very end. He trusted in our Lord Jesus Christ by continuously uniting his sufferings to Jesus' suffering on the cross. He knew there was value in his pain, and did not want to "waste it."

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Katherine Soileau Wyble (Kitty), his 4 children, Marguerite Wyble of Opelousas, Josh Wyble of Opelousas, Megan Wyble Neatherlin and husband Dr. Jason Neatherlin of Lafayette, Courtney Wyble Richard and husband Brady Richard of Opelousas, mother-in-law, Lorraine Soileau, 1 grandson, Devon Hayden Richard, 2 sisters, Cheryl Hidalgo of Opelousas and Joan Speyrer of Lafayette, and 1 brother, Brent Wyble and wife Linda of New Orleans.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Bertha Wyble of Port Barre, 1 sister, Nancy Tritico of Bridge City, Texas, and father-in-law, Harry Soileau.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30th from 10-3 and Sibille funeral home in Opelousas will be in charge of the arrangements. A Divine Mercy chaplet will begin at 2:00 and will be followed by a rosary. Mass will follow immediately after at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas.

We want to thank MD Anderson in Houston, TX and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for all their help and support they provided during our difficult times. We would also like to thank our family and friends for their outpouring support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider having masses offered up for Bobby.
