Robert Sonny Trosclair

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Robert Sonny Trosclair, 69, were held at 11: 00 AM on Friday, August 24, 2007, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment followed in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Father Angelo Cremaldi and Father Gary Schexnayder con-celebrated the Mass.

Mr. Trosclair, a native and resident of Opelousas, died at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Trosclair was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Robert Trosclair was a retired Fire Chief for the City of Opelousas Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sybil Soileau Trosclair of Opelousas; one son, Pierre Trosclair of Sunset; four daughters, Janise Maraist of Crowley, Renee' Ortego of Lake Charles, Rachel Trosclair of Minnesota, and Monique Rivette of Leonville; two brothers, Rapheal Trosclair of Opelousas, and Jules S. Trosclair, Jr. of Church Point; one sister, Mrs. Gloria Gaines of Opelousas and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Trosclair was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Sidney Trosclair, Sr. and Maude Richard Trosclair; two brothers, J.P. Trosclair and Marion Trosclair and one sister, Mrs. Irma Fontenot.

Visiting hours were observed on Thursday, August 23, 2007, from 10:00a.m. -9:00p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Friday, visitation continued from 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary service was recited at 7:00p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Gary Soileau, Raphael Trosclair, David Gaines, Fred Maraist, Nicky Rivette, and Todd Soileau. Honorary Pallbearers were Aubrey Soileau and George Soileau.

The family would like to thank Dr. Louis Nix, St. Landry Home Health, Opelousas General, and the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for all of their kindness.

The Trosclair family also asks that donations in Mr. Trosclair's honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 128 Demanade Blvd, Suite 109, Lafayette, LA 70508.
