A Funeral service will be held for, Robert Hinckley, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Gardner Hinckley Family Cemetery in Washington.
Robert, age 87, a resident of Washington, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Robert served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was vice president of the Louisiana Polled Herford Association for the last 8 years and served as a board member of LPHA for 18 years. Robert was an active consigner in the Bayou Classic Sale for many years. He provided leadership, sponsors and equipment for Bayou Classic Hereford Sale. Robert was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Polled Herford Association, a member of Elks Club and a professor of Mechanical Engineering at USL.
He is survived by his two nephews and three nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Hinckley, Sr. and Roberta Drew Hinckley; brothers, Arthur, Clanton, and Albert; sisters, Roberta, Leary Lee, Frances and Gertrude "Gertie" Hinckley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
