Port Barre, La Funeral services for Rita Hollier Wheaton, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Port Barre, La. Fr. Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre, La

Ms. Rita was born in Carencro, LA, and was a resident of Port Barre. She died on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 11:50 p.m. in the Opelousas General Health System Hospital in Opelousas.

Ms. Rita was a very wonderful and loving wife to her husband of 67 years; mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to cook, sew and plant flowers. Ms. Rita was especially devoted to her God, the Blessed Mother and Church; praying as many as 14 Rosaries a day. She loved all of her friends; they meant the world to her. She is going to be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; Wilfred Beb Wheaton, Port Barre, La; sons; Michael and wife Betty Wheaton, Pat and wife Darlene Wheaton, of Port Barre, La; daughters; Audrey Badeaux of Port Barre, Rita Polly Johnson and husband Vaughn of Krotz Springs, La, June Griffin and husband Sammy, of Opelousas, La, Cathy Deville and husband Mike of Port Barre, Connie Pousson and husband Kevin of Opelousas, 15 grandchildren; Timothy Badeaux, Damian Badeaux, M. D., Angela Miller, Jessica Wheaton, Jennifer LeMaire, Paul Wheaton, Mont Johnson, Devin Wheaton, Adrienne Wheaton, Samuel Beau Griffin, Jr., Nicole Glankler, Leslie Deville, Alex Deville, Morgan Pousson, and Sean Pousson; also 11 great grandchildren; Brock Badeaux, Caroline Badeaux, Jordan Badeaux, Camille Badeaux, Emily Miller, Maggie Miller, Avery Miller, Michael Cain Wheaton, Matthew Paul wheaton, Samuel Lewis Griffin, III, and Madelyn Glankler.

Ms. Rita was preceded in death by her parents. Felix and Sophie Prejean Hollier; brother, Hilbert Hollier and son-in-law; Norris Badeaux.

Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. and the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night by Deacon Hebert.
