Rita Bergeron Barron Olivier

Port Barre-- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rita Bergeron Barron Olivier, on Monday March 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Port Barre. Readers will be Tierney Bebee, Andrea Deville and Whitney Langlois. Gift bearers will be Kimberly Duplechain and Heidi Thibodeaux.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening March 30, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre, A Rosary will be prayed by Mike and Betty Wheaton at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home chapel. On Monday, March 31, 2025 the visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. until time of the Mass.

Rita, a cherished matriarch and devoted LPN who devoted most of her medical  career caring for the elderly, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the Senior Village Nursing Home. Born on September 3, 1932, in Leonville, Louisiana, Rita carried with her a spirit full of love and compassion for her family and those around her.

Rita's passion for her family was a hallmark of her life, encapsulating a joyful dedication that was felt deeply by all who knew her. She was the beloved mother of nine children: sons, Arville Barron, Jimmie Barron (Cindy), Tony Barron (Ann), Karl Barron (Darlene), Gary Barron (Sonya), and Mac Barron (Paula), daughters, Wanda Barron Gautreaux (Wayne), Arlene Barron Stelly (Kevin), and Mary Barron Ivey (Will). Her nurturing nature extended to her 27 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Rita was predeceased by her former husband Allen Barron, the father of her children, and her sons John Lynn Barron and Leo Glenn Barron. She also mourned the passing of her daughter Carlene Ann Barron, her father Yves Bergeron Sr., her mother Elda Stelly Angelle, six brothers, two sisters, grandson John Seth Barron, granddaughters Tracy and Mary Holly Barron, and one great-grandson, Aaron Barron and her daughters-in-law, Dianna Calais Barron and Vicki Lantz Barron.

Rita’s legacy lives on through her family, who will carry forward the love she cultivated throughout her life. She will be remembered by all for her unwavering love and dedication, which served as a guiding light for her family through the years.

Rita's family would like to send a very special thanks to Senior Village Nursing home staff and L H C Hospice for all the love and care they have provided for Mrs. Rita at her time of need.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Barron, Kory Barron, Dusty Barron, Eric Gautreaux, Bryson Lalonde and Brooks Barron.
