Rita Godeaux

Opelousas-Funeral services for Rita Comeaux Godeaux will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2015, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA. Minister Liz Sancho will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Verrette Cemetery in Swords.

Rita Comeaux Godeaux was a native and longtime resident of Church Point and was a resident of Mamou. She died on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point at the age of 84. She was a cook in the oilfield industry for many years. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed doing her puzzle books, spending time with her family especially during the holidays and living her life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rita is survived by three sons, Jude Godeaux, Sr. and wife, Pamela of Mamou; James Godeaux, Sr. and fiancé Liz Sancho of Broussard; and Christopher Ted Godeaux and fiancé, Tonya Rider of Mamou; one daughter, Linda Faye Marie Fontenot of Mamou; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Godeaux; her parents, Eluse Comeaux and Agnes Lyons Comeaux; granddaughter, Andrea Dawn Godeaux; great-grandson, Gabriel Fontenot; and her siblings, Egbert Boudreaux, Eddie Comeaux, Vernice Guidry, Marie Cormier, and Jane Boudreaux.

Pallbearers will be James Godeaux II, Jules Fontenot, Jude Godeaux, Coby Matte, Dereck Latiolais, and Ryan Rider. Honorary pallbearers will be Erick Fontenot, Damain Godeaux, Michael Godeaux, Daven Godeaux, Kase Godeaux, Joseph Fonenot, Chance Godeaux, and LuLu Fontenot.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home.
