Rita Breaux

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rita Breaux, age, 86 at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with, Fr. Gregory Simien. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rita was a resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Lafayette General Health System. Rita enjoyed trips on tour buses collecting bells from every state in the US.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 69 years Mr. James Leroy Breaux of Opelousas grandchildren, Jody Anderson of Phoenix AZ, Candice Breaux and her husband, Scott Daigle of Breaux Bridge, Jared Breaux and his wife, Megan, of Havana Fl., Joshua Breaux of Breaux Bridge, Jessica Brinkhaus and husband, Brandon of Lawtell, great grandchildren, Gavin Lavergne, Logan Lavergne, Madison Breaux, Jace Breaux, Zane, Collin, Liam, Kasen Brinkhaus, brother, Ronald Carriere.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Anatole and Armentine Leger Carriere, her two sons, Michael and Larry Breaux, brother, Mansel Carriere, sister, Velma Olivier.

The visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, and will reopen on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
