Risé Nicholson

Opelousas– A Service of Remembrance for Risé Anne Nicholson will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the funeral home.

Risé, a resident of Sunset, entered into eternal rest at the age of 65, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Risé dedicated her career to educating the youth of America. She taught students at the Belmont Academy, Acadiana Prep and Teurlings Catholic. Risé’s talent and dedication to teaching did not go unnoticed, as she awarded Teacher of the Year at Teurlings Catholic. When she wasn’t in the classroom, she enjoyed being outdoors hiking, competing in triathlons, and playing a friendly tennis match. Risé will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and students.

Risé is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jim Nicholson; son, James L. Nicholson III and wife, Candice; daughters, Carly Myers and husband, Brach and Sarah Nicholson; brother, Randy McDaniel and wife, Lois McDaniel; grandchildren, Emile Myers, Zayden Jackson, Leigha St. Julian and Riley Smith.

Risé is preceded in death by her parents, Elmus McDaniel and Margaret Hudson McDaniel.
