Rickey Doucet

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for will be held for James Rickey Doucet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas at 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. MSGR. Russell Herrington will officiate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.

Rickey, age 69, a resident of Opelousas passed away on February 1, 2021 at his home.

Rickey, a gentle soul, genuinely enjoyed life. The most important things to him were God, family, friends, and duck hunting. He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. Always a smile on his face, his soul so pure and spirit so bright, he lifted everyone around him.

Rickey is survived  by his wife of 48 years, Iris Ann Hebert Doucet, of Opelousas, his mother, Emerite Doucet of Washington, sons Christopher James Doucet of Broussard, daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Doucet Freeman of Austin Texas, brother, Brian Doucet of Carencro, sisters, Mira Leleaux of Washington, Greta Briley of Hammond, and Patti Rose of Port Allen, four grandchildren, Morgan Eve Doucet, Sydney Doucet, Kate Freeman, and Grace Freeman.

Rickey preceded in death by his father, Clyde Doucet.

Pallbearers will be Clay Freeman Brian Doucet, Mark Miller, Mike Howard, Mike Briley, and Matthew Howard.
