Richard "REDD" Young

OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service for Richard “REDD” Young will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Minister Ronald Bernard will conduct the service.  
“REDD”, age 45, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Opelousas General Health System with his family at his side. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 
“REDD” enjoying spending time with his wife and friends, shooting pool, and BBQing. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, going hunting and going to target practice.   
“REDD” is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mandi Soileau Young; daughter, Sierra Jeansonne and fiancé, Shaun Funderburk; brother, Mark Young and wife, Debbie; sister; Carolyn Copper and husband, Ivan, and Marti Woodward; 2 grandchildren, Colby and Kyson Funderburk. 
“REDD” is preceded in death by his angel babies, Sarah and Alex Young; parents, Albert and Rita Young; brothers, Michael Young and Christopher “Chris” Young; and sister, Debbie Gelbi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
