Rhonda, a loving person who brought joy and warmth into the lives of those around her, passed away on March 27, 2025, at the Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 22, 1965, in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana, where she spent her formative years surrounded by family and friends who cherished her deeply.
Rhonda had a zest for life that was reflected in her daily routines and hobbies. She enjoyed drinking coffee and often spent weekends at the ballpark, cheering for AC. Her appreciation for nature was evident in her love of watching hummingbirds, while her evenings were often filled with the comforting sounds of audiobooks and her favorite television shows. A delightful habit of hers was savoring a white cherry icee every day, a simple pleasure that brought her much happiness.
Rhonda's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved children Derrick Fontenot (Kristin) of Krotz Springs, Courtney Johns (Tyler) of Deville, Dylan Fontenot (Brianna) of Carencro, and Dakoda Fontenot of Lafayette. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Bennett, Lane, AnnaClaire, Maverick, and Mattie, who will always remember their memaw's love and generosity.
Rhonda was also a devoted sister, leaving behind her siblings Jessica Daville of Lawtell, Charles Daville (Sheri) of Prairie Ronde, Rachel Daville Murray (Craig) of Albany, and Greg Deville (Julie) of Nuba, as well as her half-sister Cheryl Daville of Esterwood. Each of them carries their own memories of laughter and love that Rhonda shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven Fontenot, whose memory remains an enduring part of her life story. Rhonda was also preceded by her mother, Joyce Danos, and her father, Arva Lee Daville. Her family history is marked by the loss of half-sisters Karen Deshotel, Sarah Deshotel, and Tammy Baudin, as well as her grandparents Averence Eve Daville, Vernice Prudhomme Daville, and Lester and Berdna Danos, who all played important roles in her life.
Rhonda Deville touched the hearts of many and will be remembered for her loving spirit, her infectious smile, and the countless moments of joy she created for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
