Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Rex T-June Norris, Jr., 40, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas.

Mr. Norris was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was a life long resident of Opelousas. He died at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in his residence following his battle of a lengthy illness. He enjoyed his career as a diesel mechanic. He also worked previously as a security officer in Opelousas and the Port Barre Police Department. His favorite past time was spending time with his family as much as possible. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. As a hobby, he would cook and travel. He was also a wonderful father, grandfather, godfather, son, brother, and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include two daughters: Mindy Nicole Norris of Opelousas; and Mary Delores Norris and fiance, Lance Campbell of Port Barre; his parents, Wilson Trahan, Jr. and Marylyn Lavergne Trahan of Opelousas; two sisters: Kathy Arnaud and husband, Randy of Arnaudville; and Norma Jean Trahan and Dan Courville of New Iberia; two grandchildren: Jacolbie Danos and Landon Campbell; paternal grandmother, Bernice Trahan of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by three godchildren: Brianna Courville, Blake Courville, and Amber Arnaud; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Christine Gauthier.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wilson Trahan, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents: Albert and Sedonia Darbonne Lavergne.

Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday, April 3, 2008, in the Sibille funeral home of Port Barre beginning at 3:00 p.m. with all night service until the time of services on Friday.

A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Blake Courville, Eddie Guilbeau, Tommy Bihm, Barry Bihm, Dan Courville, and Randy Arnaud. Honorary pallbearer will be Lance Campbell.

Special thanks to Christine Gauthier for her wonderful compassion and helpfulness in her care and support during his time of illness and sharing her friendship.
