Raymond Rock Guillory

Port Barre- Funeral services for Raymond Rock Guillory, age 69, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009, in the Sacred Heart Church. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Fr. Nicky Trahan celebrated the Mass of Christian burial.

Rock was a native and long time resident of Port Barre. He died on Monday, August 10, 2009, in the Opelousas General Health System. Rock did carpenter work for years with the Baton Rouge Union and was also a gas station owner. He loved to hunt, fish, and train horses. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who know and loved him. Rock was extremely friendly to everyone and was full of spirit and life.

Survivors include his two children: Anthony Doucet and wife, Suzanne of Port Barre; and Jessie Guillory and wife, Laurie of Port Barre; two grandchildren: Sonnye Rae Doucet and Johnny Doucet, both of Port Barre; two great-grandchildren, one brother, Leroy Guillory and wife, Sandra of Ervinville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn Devillier Guillory; his paretnts: Alcide and Beatrice Richard Guillory; and one brother, Jimmy Guillory.

Visiting hours were observed in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday August 12, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Thursday, visitation continued from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Rosary service was conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
