Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Prescott James Dupuis known to many as "Poor Pres", at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the St. Landry Cemetery. Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass.
Prescott was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 63. He was the owner of Dupuis Memorials for many years until his retirement. Some of his outdoor activities included hunting, fishing, playing golf, and the USSSA Baseball tournaments. He was a wonderful husband to Jan for 42 years, a great dad to his girls and the best "Poppa" to his grandchildren. He was proud to be the big brother to his four brothers and his sister. He was the best father-in-law and friend to the sons he never had. He was a parishioner at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. We will miss him tremendously.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Courville Dupuis of Opelousas, three daughters, Christie Griffin and husband, Frank of Natchitoches; Ashley Stephens and her husband, Shane of Spring Hill, TN; and Leslie Wren and husband, Stephen of Lake Charles; four brothers, Glenn Dupuis and wife, Janet of Opelousas; Robert "Bobby" Dupuis of Lafayette; Russell Dupuis and wife, Annette of Opelousas; and Martin Dupuis and wife, Rhonda of Frisco, TX; one sister, Deborah Cooper and husband, Stacy of Plano, TX; and seven grandchildren, Landon and Tyler Stephens, Drake and Kennedy Griffin, and Blake, Grace, and Ava Wren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. J. Dupuis, Jr. and Wanda Lorrain Dupuis.
The visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
