Peter Cropper

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Peter Curley Cropper, age 66, will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Very Reverend Monsignor Robert Romero will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial and The Reverend Gary Schexnayder will be the concelebrant.

Mr. Cropper who was a native and resident of Opelousas, died at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his residence.
br
Peter was a retired electrician for the City of Opelousas. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
br
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Rae Mackey Cropper of Opelousas; a daughter, Rhonda Marie Cropper Trahan and husband Jonathon of Opelousas; three sisters: Jo Ann Mitchell of Lake Charles; Lilly Belle Higginbotham of Lake Charles; and Patricia Sonnier of Greenwell Springs; two grandchildren, Madison and Molly Trahan; and his longtime companion, his dog Bo Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Curley Cropper and Lillian Stoute Cropper.
br
Pallbearers will be Jason Bourgeois, Jonathon Trahan, Dale Darbonne, Mark and Ronald Higginbotham and Kevin Chuck Darbonne. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Champagne, Whitney Cropper, Bernard Sonnier, Hamm Higginbotham, Raymond Darbonne and James Buddy Mackey.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, October 13, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A Rosary service will be held on Monday night in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.
