Perkins J. Buck LaHaye
Port Barre- Funeral services for Mr. Perkins J. LaHaye, known to many as Buck, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Scared Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.
Fr. Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass. The readings will be done by Clifford Hebert. The offertory will be presented by Bob and Vicky Duplechain. Musical selections will be provided by Patrick Melancon and Mike Dubroc. The Eulogy will be presented by Nick Speyrer.
Mr. LaHaye was a native and life-long resident of Port Barre. He died on Friday, April 17, 2009, at his residence. He was a farmer for over 40 years. He also was a transportation truck driver for the oilfield for many years. His favorite pastime was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed listening to his deer dogs run. He was a member of Lucky 13 Hunting Club, President of Indian Bayou Hunting Club, Courtableau Wildlife Hunting Club and a present member of Cypress Lake Hunting Club.
Mourning his death yet cherishing his memories are his wife of 60 years, Georgia Hebert LaHaye of Port Barre; son, Mitch LaHaye and wife, Dianna of Port Barre; sister, Theolia Kavalier of Opelousas; son-in-law, Anthony Speyrer, Jr. of Port Barre; grandchildren: Cade LaHaye, Coby LaHaye; Marcus Speyrer, Kevin Speyrer, Stewart Speyrer, Nick Speyrer, and Derrick Speyrer; and great-grandchildren: Braxton Speyrer, Karoline Speyrer, Caleb Speyrer, Pierce Speyrer, Anne-Marie Speyrer, and Amelia Speyrer.
Preceded in death daughter, Carolyn L. Speyrer; son, Randy LaHaye; parents: August LaHaye and Alzira Carrier LaHaye; brother, Joe LaHaye; sisters: Mabel Prather, Rose Mae Darbonne, Gertie Mistric, Jeanette Soileau, and Margie Roy; and a special friend of the family, Loretta Speyrer.
Pallbearers will be Cade LaHaye, Coby Ryan LaHaye, Marcus Speyrer, Kevin Speyrer, Stewart Speyrer, and Derrick Speyrer. Honorary pallbearers will be Pierce and Caleb Speyrer.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 9: a.m. until 10: p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 7 a.m. until the time of services.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
