Peggy (Joanne) McKee Lee peacefully passed away on September 25, 2023, at Opelousas General Hospital. She was born on February 4, 1933, in Wilson, Oklahoma. Peggy was surrounded by love and comfort as she transitioned to her heavenly abode. Her life was filled with joy, love, and cherished moments that will forever remain etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
Peggy's passions reflected the beautiful spirit she possessed. She had a green thumb and found solace in gardening. The vibrant colors of flowers brought her immense joy and tranquility. Additionally, she delighted in escaping into the world of literature through reading, where she would embark on countless adventures without ever leaving the comfort of her home. Peggy's nimble fingers were also adept at sewing, showcasing her creativity and skill.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon Lee; parents, Verdie and Julia McKee; her brother Bill McKee and sister Kay Devillier.
Left to carry on Peggy's legacy are her beloved children: Jerry Lee (Virginia) from Bayou Current, Judy Lee from Farmersville, CA, and Anne Lee from Opelousas. They were the pride and joy of Peggy's life; she poured boundless love into their lives and celebrated their every accomplishment with unwavering support.
Peggy also leaves behind her sister Diane Devillier of Krotz Springs. They created a beautiful tapestry of memories saturated with laughter and love that will be treasured forever.
Peggy's legacy extends to her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild on the way. She delighted in witnessing her family grow, cherishing every moment spent together. Compassion, kindness, and unconditional love are values that Peggy instilled in each generation of her family.
To honor Peggy's life, a graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA on October 2, 2023. The service will commence at 11:00 AM with an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects. The beauty of Cedar Hill Cemetery serves as a poignant backdrop to commemorate the life of this remarkable woman.
Peggy (Joanne) McKee Lee's departure from this world has left an unfillable void. However, her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace as she reunites with her loved ones who have gone before her.
