Pearl Taylor

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mrs. Pearl Mary Wyatt Taylor, on Monday, October 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Mary's Assumption Church Cemetery in Cottonport, LA.

Mrs. Taylor, age 91, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Senior Village Nursing Home. She was involved in several organizations throughout the years such as the American Legion Auxiliary, AARP and the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Taylor worked for Senior Village Nursing Home for 27 years as a Nurse's Assistant, Social Worker and Activities Coordinator. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Walter Wyatt III and wife, Shirley of Moss Bluff and Michael Wyatt of Opelousas; daughters, Lillian D'Avy and husband, N.J. "Bubba" of Baton Rouge, Evelyn Burleigh and husband, Raymond "Sonny" of Opelousas, Cindy Litka and husband, Pete of Woodinville, WA, Juliette Wyatt of Spokane, WA and Josie Flanagan of Sunset; sister, Cora Guillory of Echo, LA; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wyatt, Jr.; second husband, Harold A. Taylor parents, Emmanuel and Josephine Castete Bergeron; sisters, Lorena Bergeron, Betty Ann Bergeron and Elaine Lemoine; grandson, Lee Bivona.

The family requests visitation be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited by the Ladies Altar Society at 6:00 p.m. Sunday. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
