Lawtell-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Pearl Marie Olivier at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the St. Bridget Cemetery. Father Keith Landry will celebrate the Mass.
Pearl was a native of Swords and was a resident of Broussard. She passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center at the age of 82. She was a Hospice Caregiver for many years and was previous an Amway Distributor. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a Cursillo member from the Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde. She was also a member of Farm Bureau and the Dairymen Association.
Survivors include her son, Kermit J. Lavergne of Mallet; three daughters, Judy Lavergne of Athens, GA; Dolores (Dee) Piazza and husband, Peter of Lafayette; and Kem L. Maturin and husband, Jimmy of Broussard; two sisters, Florence (T-Noir) Manuel of Eunice; and Alma Ortego of Eunice; twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth Riley, Kathryn Riley, Margaret Mary Riley, Lynn Miller, Eve Lavergne, Eric Lavergne, Amy Lavergne, Tre' Piazza, John-David Piazza, Marianna Piazza, Dallas Thibodeaux, and Joey Thibodeaux; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wilbert J. Lavergne, Jr.; parents, Dallas Olivier and Mary Frame Olivier; one brother, Calvin Ray Olivier; three sisters, Isabel Soileau, Lucy Mae Olivier, and Grace Olivier Fagan.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
A Rosary service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
