OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Pearl Broussard on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Msgr Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Pearl Dupuis Broussard, lovingly known as "Took", was born on February 6, 1946, in Arnaudville LA, and peacefully passed away on July 2, 2024, at her residence in Opelousas surrounded by her loving family.
"Took" dedicated 25 years of her life to caring for numerous children as a babysitter, showering each child with love and care that will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. Babysitting was not just a job but a calling that brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
Beyond her professional life, Pearl had a vibrant personality and a wide range of hobbies and interests. She had a passion for shopping, cherishing moments spent with family and friends, especially during the weekly lunches she shared with her sisters and nieces. Additionally, she enjoyed the thrill of visiting the casino and exploring different states through her travels. One of her favorite pastimes was listening to music and dancing with her beloved husband, Earl.
Pearl Broussard's warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a beacon of light in the lives of many and leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Broussard; daughters, Monette LeBlanc and husband Chris, Dana Fontenot and husband Jason; daughter-in-law, Dawn Broussard; sister, Lucy “Blondie” Broussard; grandchildren, CJ LeBlanc and wife Jodie, Matthew LeBlanc and wife Kerrie, Jacob LeBlanc, Allison Fontenot Venable and husband Tori, Justin Fontenot and fiancé Gracie, Lauren Broussard; great-grandchildren, Jamie Aymond, Kennedi Aymond, Mattie LeBlanc, Carson Venable and one on the way, Colton Venable ; and a host and nieces and nephews.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Noah Jr. and Odile Dupuis; son, Todd Broussard; grandson, Jared Broussard; sisters, Gladys LeBlanc, Eula Mae “Tim” Rassmussen, Mildred Breaux, Ella Castille; brothers, Milton Dupuis and Nathan Dupuis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM by Deacon Jerome Collins. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be CJ LeBlanc, Matt LeBlanc, Jacob LeBlanc, Justin Fontenot, Jamie Aymond and Tori Venable. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Broussard and Blake Broussard.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her godchild, Annie Reeves, RN; St. Joseph Hospice CNA Tamika and Nurse Lindsey; her caregivers, Negatha Kelly and Glenda Joubert. The love and care they’ve extended to Mrs. Pearl and the family throughout the years have been so greatly appreciated.
May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was loved deeply and will be missed dearly by all whose lives she graced with her presence.
