Patsy Cuccio

CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at a 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Patsy Ruth Cuccio, age 76, the former Patsy Ruth Bowie, who passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her residence in Carencro. Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Cuccio was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She retired with the Lafayette Parish School System in 2000 with over thirty years of service in the Head Start Program and was employed with Children's Discovery Center Daycare in Carencro since 1987 and was the owner for eight of those years. A devout catholic, Mrs. Cuccio was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church where she married the love of her life, Sam Jasper Cuccio, on June 19, 1960. She prayed the rosary daily, sang the Divine Mercy and was devoted to saying the rosary. She carried a crucifix everywhere she went and never let it go. She passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord with her crucifix in her hands. She was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Cuccio was a mother to everyone - her grandchildren and the children at school. She loved them dearly. She enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening, sewing, feeding birds and bringing her grandchildren everywhere.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Anthony Cuccio of Opelousas and Samuel Joseph Cuccio and his wife, Erin, of Carencro; three daughters, Theresa C. Guidry and her husband, Todd, Juanita C. Landry and her husband, John, and Anita C. LeBlanc and her husband, Scott, all of Carencro; one sister, Juanita Bowie Blanchard of Henderson; and ten grandchildren, Patsy Pomier, Toddie Guidry, Samantha Wardlaw, Payton Wardlaw, John Landry, III, Susie Cuccio, Connie Cuccio, Sally Cuccio, Tyler LeBlanc, Alex Schultz; and one great grandson, Sydney Jasper Pomier.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-seven years, Sam Jasper Cuccio; her parents, Millard "Pete" Bowie and the former Gussie Guillot; and two brothers, Andrew Bowie and Sidney Bowie.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 11:00 a.m. Thursday by the St. Anne Society in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Todd C. Guidry, Todd A. Guidry, Patsy Pomier, Jessie Pomier, Samuel Cuccio, John Landry, Sr., John Landry, Jr. and Scott Leblanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Leblanc, Anita Leblanc, Juanita Leblanc, Francis Arceneaux and Brian Breaux.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, (337) 896-6366, is in charge of arrangements.Carencro-Mass of Christian Burial for Patsy Ruth Bowie Cuccio will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Carencro.

Mrs. Patsy passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at her home in Carencro surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. in the Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
