Patrick Stelly, Sr.

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Patrick Stelly, Sr., age 64, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

Bro. Louis Charrier will officiate the services.

Mr. Stelly was native of Waxia and a resident of Palmetto. He died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 12:22 a.m. in the Opelousas General Health System. He was a heavy equipment operator for the St. Landry Solid Waste Management. He was a past police officier for the Town of Washington and a farmer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rita Zerangue Stelly of Palmetto; three sons: Frederick Stelly of Washington; Michael Stelly of Palmetto; Patrick Stelly, Jr. of Prairie Ronde; two daughters: Melissa Brasseaux and husband, Charles of Scott; and Cindy Arnaud and husband, Woodie of Washington; two brothers: William Stelly and wife, Nancy of Washington; and Joseph Stelly and wife, Diane of Bunkie; three sisters: Jane Stelly and husband, Percy of Arnaudville; Rena Richard of Opelousas; and Gloria Taylor of Pecaniere; one sister-in-law, Mary Stelly of Opelousas; and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Clement Stelly and Leah Hollier Stelly; four brothers: Norman Stelly, Emery Stelly, George Stelly, and Cedric Stelly; and three sisters: Doris Arnaud, Joyce Richard, and his infant sister.

Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the family help defray the cost of medical and funeral expenses.
