Otis Lomenick, Jr.

Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for, Mr. Otis E. Lomenick, Jr., at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the service. Mr. Otis requested that his ashes be scattered at a family farm in Melville.

Mr. Otis was a graduate of Cathedral Carmel. He went on to becoming a proud graduate from USL where he was a fraternity member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Mr. Otis then pursued his education further at Loyola University School of Law where he graduated in 1969. He returned to Opelousas and became the first Legal Advisor for the St. Landry Sheriff Office and Opelousas Police Department. Mr. Otis practiced law in Opelousas for over thirty years before being appointed Hearing Officer for the 27th Judicial District. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Linda Couvillon Lomenick; his second former wife, Carolyn Roy Lomenick; his daughters, Laura Lynn Lomenick Stevens and husband, Blake, Leah Lomenick Padgett and husband, Eugene; his brother, Steven Lomenick; his sisters, Michelle Lomenick Mitchell and Cynthia Lomenick Durtsche; his daughter-in-law, Laura L. Broussard; his 6 grandchildren, and his close friend James "Bubba" Bettison Lowrey's children who he cared for as his own, Brandon Lowrey, Lannie Lowrey Capouya and Alice Lowrey Angel. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Eugene Lomenick, Sr. and Eugenie Bryant Lomenick; his son, Otis E. Lomenick III; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Lomenick; his grandson, Jackson Padgett and his two close friends James "Bubba" Bettison Lowrey and Dr. Lionel Mayer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Sammy Diesi at 6:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m.
