Norward Richard

Cankton Funeral services for Mr. Norward Lloyd Richard, age 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. John Berchman Cemetery.
Father Henry Broussard will celebrate the Mass.
Norward was a native of Bellevue and was a longtime resident of Bristol, LA. He died on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas. He was a partner of Carpet Land in Opelousas for many years. Later, he opened his own company, Carpet Station in Sunset.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the American Legion of Sunset and Commissioner of the American Legion Baseball. He enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy L. Richard of Houston and Shane S. Richard of Ft. Lauderdale, FL one halfbrother, Gabriel Jimmy Sibille of Sunset three sisters: Gladie Waters of Sunset Juanita Beaugh of Church Point and Shirley Devillier of Cankton and one grandson, Andrew Richard of Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Lee Sibille Richard son, Norward Ricky Richard, Jr. and parents, Gonzague Richard and Elizabeth Bourque Richard.
Visiting hours will be observed in the St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton on Thursday, August 11, 2011, from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
The family is requesting do not send flowers to church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
