Port BarreA Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Norcisse Doucet, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military Funeral honors will be presented at the graveside.
Norcisse was a longtime resident of Washington. He passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at his home at the age of 85. He was a lifelong parishioner and an usher of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. He previously worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 406. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending his time fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially playing, singing, and dancing Ding a Ding with the children. His storytelling and reminiscing from the past will be sadly missed by his family and friends because he was a good historian.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jessie Lacombe Doucet of Washington two sons, Harold James Doucet and wife, Cyndi of Port Barre and Norcisse Jr. Doucet, Jr. and wife, Bobbie Jo of Washington two daughters, Felicia Doucet Leger and husband, John of Port Barre and Sheila Doucet Mistric and husband, Cleve of Washington 8 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Doucet grandchild, Matthew John Leger his parents, Joachim Doucet and Armicia Janisse Doucet 5 brothers and 7 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Harold James Doucet, Norcisse Jr. Doucet, Jr., John Leger, Cleve Mistric, Fabien Leger, and Michael Marlow. Carson Leger and Cy Leger will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
