Newton Janise

Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will held for Newton Janise on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. MSGR. Keith DeRouen will Celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Newton, age 80, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home with his wife by his side. Newton worked for Opelousas Fire Department for 10 years then for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for 21 years as a ground supervisor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who knew and loved him.

Newton is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Mary Janise of Opelousas, several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Danny Romero of Lafayette.

Newton is preceded in death by parents, Etienne and Oliva Janise,      his son, Michael Janise, his brothers, Henry and his wife, Jean Janise, and Gervis and his wife, Mary Lou Janise and his beloved pet Daisy.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary to be prayed by Deacon Jerome Collins at 7:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Special thanks to the staff of Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care, his nurses, Tonya, Rebekah, Kimmie, and Tyler, and also Rev. Murphy. Mrs. Janise wants to send a special thanks to her rock, Linda and Galen Delcambre, for all the love and support.
