Opelousas Beloved husband, father and friend, Newton Peter Bihm, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Bihm, 78, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. John Uhl will conduct the services.
Mr. Bihm passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 8:30 p.m. at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Newton was born in Lawtell and lived his adult life in Opelousas. He served his ountry during World War II in the Air Force. After the War, he returned and began his career as a barber, owning his own barbershop. Mr. Bihm was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Mr. Bihm is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lilly Gautreaux Bihm of Opelousas; sons: Randall Bihm and wife, Lorrain of Plano, TX; Ricky Bihm and wife, Jeanne of Portland, OR; Christopher Ty Bihm and wife, Melanie of Independence, LA; Marion Savoie and wife, Sharon of Dearborn, MI; Mark Savoie and wife, Darla of Opelousas; Timothy Savoie and wife, Betty of Port Barre; daughter, Debbie Billiodeaux and husband, Tom of Opelousas; 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Mr. Newton was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Lee Stelly and their parents, Gussie Bihm and Andrea Marks.
Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until time of service held there.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Deborah Johnson, a dear family friend and his physician, the loving caregivers and staff of St. Landry Home Health, and La. Hospice and Pallative on Heather Dr., Opelousas.
