Neva Vidrine

Port BarreA Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Neva Leger Vidrine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Fr. Daniel Picard as the celebrant.
Mrs. Neva was a lifelong resident of Port Barre. She died on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville at the age of 77. She was retired after working with the St. Landry Parish School Board for 25 years where she served as a cook at Port Barre Elementary School and Port Barre High School. She was awarded the Port Barre High School Womans History Award in 2014. She enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time with her family and friends, and going to the Port Barre High School Football games. She was a devoted wife of 62 years, and a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, greatgreatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Everette Vidrine of Port Barre three daughters, Geneva Wayne Stanford of Port Barre Suzanne Anthony Doucet of Port Barre and Tammy Charles A. Cushman of Opelousas three brothers, Eddie Leger, Jr. of Opelousas Martin Sonny Leger of Leonville and Leroy Leger of Port Barre four sisters, Pearl Deville of Washington Jane Vidrine of Port Barre Leona Leger of Opelousas and Marie Comeaux of Mamou five grandchildren, Kim Jesse Doucet, Holly Steven LeDoux, Sonnye Doucet, Ciara Cushman, and Johnny Brittany Doucet seven greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Ray Vidrine parents, Eddie Leger, Sr. and Hester Dupre Leger and brother, Lawrence Leger, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Doucet, Galen Doucet, Jesse Doucet, Steven LeDoux, Farriel Knott, Martin Leger, Jr., Brent Leger, and Chris Leger.
Special Thanks to the staff of J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home and Dr. Kirk Elliott and staff for their wonderful care which was given to Mrs. Neva.
Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
