Neva Aldene Batchelor Daigle Stelly, graced this world with her presence on September 2, 1946, in the quaint town of Seminole, Ohio. After 77 years woven with love, laughter, and community spirit, she departed this life peacefully at her home in Port Barre, Louisiana, surrounded by the warmth of her devoted family on August 24, 2024.
Neva, a passionate gardener, she found solace and delight in nurturing vibrant blooms that mirrored her zest for life. Her crafting skills transformed simple materials into treasures, each handmade piece a testament to her creativity and dedication. In the evenings, she would often be found with a book in hand, losing herself in the stories. Through wins and losses, both in life and at the gaming machines—which provided her with moments of thrill and excitement—Neva's spirit remained undaunted.
Neva thrived in the embrace of community service, as evidenced by her proud memberships in the Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus and the Port Barre Volunteer Fire Department. These roles were more than mere affiliations; they reflected her commitment to uplifting others and enhancing the lives of those around her.
Neva is survived by her husband of 21 years, Bryant Stelly; daughters, Katrina Brown (companion, Michael Savoy) of Opelousas, Kiara Marquise (Donald) of Santa Fe, TX; brother, James Batchelor (Lori) of Santa Fe, TX; sister, Dorothy Guillot (Ozzie) of League City, TX; father-in-law, A.D. Neva is preceded in death by her first husband, James Ronald “Tex” Daigle; parents, Gerald and Majorie Batchelor; paternal grandparents, Ancel and Hettie Batchelor; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Neva Creger Busch; son-in-law, Mark Brown; sister-in-law, Kathy Aucoin; in-laws, Percy and Neital Soileau Daigle; second mother-in-law, Mercedes Angelle Stelly; and niece, Julia Guillot.
