Opelousas Funeral Services for Nancy Hollier Ryder, age 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Father Pete Smith will officiate the Service.
Ms. Nancy was a residence of Opelousas. She died on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at in the Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
She enjoyed quilting, reading and doing word puzzles. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A special thanks to Prompt Succor and the entire staff who gave her excellent love and care. Thanks also to Dr. Gary Blanchard and the Louisiana Hospice and Pallative Care.
Survivors include her son Gordon Ryder and wife Brenda of Opelousas, her daughter Ellen Ryder of Baton Rouge, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents: Fred Hollier and Effie Demmick Hollier, her husband Joseph Ryder, one brother Frederick Hollier, and one sister Irene Hollier Moise.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, May 17, 2010, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com.
