Nancy Friou

Opelousas Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Friou will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, and interment at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs. Rev. Benji Richard will officiate the services.

Mrs. Nancy was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 55. She was a nurse for many years. She worked for The Parish Health Unit, University Medical Center for over 23 years and LA Hospice and Palliative Care. She lived a very Christian life and was a member of New Life Church of Port Barre. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her joy in life, her grandchildren. As a pastime, she enjoyed woodworking and refurbishing old things, camping, and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed going to many garage sales and collected cookbooks. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nancy will continue to be a blessing to many others through the gifts of life which she is providing through her donation to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency Southern Eye Bank And she will be forever our Hero

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Lonnie R. Friou of Port Barre her mother, Gladys Thibodeaux Benoit of Port Barre one son, Lonnie Allen Friou and wife, Rachel of Port Barre three daughters, Wendy Friou Degueyter and husband, Nick of Leonville Roni Friou Williams and husband, Kevin of Pineville and Katelyn Friou of Port Barre two brothers, Daniel Lanclos and wife, Elsie of Chataignier and Gerald Lanclos and wife, Denise of Sulphur one sister, Mary Lee Calverette and husband, Ronnie of Port Barre and 4 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elie Lanclos and two brothers, Robert Lanclos and Antoine Lanclos.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
