Myrtle Dupre

Opelousas- Funeral Services for Myrtle Marie Picard Dupre, age 58, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rev. Mike Fitzgerald will officiate the service.
Myrtle was a resident of Opelousas and passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at her sister's home in Sunset. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her especially the Dance Theatre Conservatory since she was their #1 Fan.
Survivors include two sons, Austin Ray Dupre III and Christopher David Brockwell, both of Opelousas; one daughter, Betsy Jean Dupre of Opelousas; her mother, Bessie Mixon Picard of Port Barre; her honorary father, Richard E. McClain of Port Barre; two brothers, Timothy Paul Picard of Port Barre; and Joseph Henry Hargroder III and wife, Shirley of Port Barre; three sisters, Kim Stoot and husband, Thomas of Sunset; Debbie Guidry and husband, Joseph of Brusly; and Crystal Sands of Vidor, TX; three grandchildren, Kasie Kim Pitre, Gracie Layne Brockwell, and Lillian Faith Brockwell; and one great-grandchild, Zayne Couper Jones. She is also survived by her godchildren, Melissa Marie Richard and her children, Braxton and Hali Richard; Derek Thomas Stoot, Kayla Zachary, Marlena Lewis, Richie Esposito, and Heather Krull; the father of her children, Austin Ray Dupre, Jr. of Lafayette; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Paul Picard; brother, John Phillip Picard; and her grandparents, Myrtle May Mixon and Foster V. Mixon.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dana Miller, Dr. Carlos Mendez, Dr. Lana Metoyer and Dr. Derek Metoyer, Opelousas General Health System Staff, and to the LA Hospice and Palliative Care Staff for their wonderful medical care.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.
