Myrtis Scruggins

Port Barre- Funeral Services for Myrtis Scruggins, age 79, will be held at 11: 00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, in the First Baptist Church, in Krotz Springs. Interment will follow Krotz Springs Baptist Cemetery .

Rev. Chad Bolfa will conduct the service.

Myrtis was a long time resident of Port Barre. She died on December 3, 2009, at Tri Community Nursing Home. She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed talking on the phone, getting the latest gossip and what was happening in her town. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, kept one of the cleanest houses ever seen by anyone. She was dearly loved by her family and anyone who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter : Mary Nola Lanclos and husband Jeff of Opelousas, one step grand-daughter Juile Lanclos Langwell, seven nieces: Werdna Pate, Priscilla Aymond, Lena Curtis, Cheryl Hooks, Frances Wilks, Angie Lahaye and Millie Lahaye, two nephews: Worlen Stoute and London Lahaye, and her loving companion her dog Scottie Joe, also a host of nieces and nephews by marriage.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murry Scruggins, her parents; Lucuis and Lena Johnson Carrier, one brother: Frank Lahaye, three sisters: Ethel Savoy, Ella Mae Charles and Leether Stoute.

A special Thanks to the Tri Community Nursing Home and all the staff who loved and made life good for Myrtis.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 11: a.m. to 9: p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
