Monica "Mona" Glasscock

OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Monica Glasscock at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Greg Simien will officiate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Monica, age 85, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2020 at Opelousas General Hospital under hospice care.

She was a joy to be around and a very special lady. She always made time for everyone and made everyone feel special. She was an awesome storyteller and would make everyone laugh. She loved camping and traveling this beautiful country. She had a green thumb and loved caring for her plants.

She is no longer suffering in her mortal body but is in the presence of Jesus with all her beloved family and dancing in the golden rays of sunlight. She is basking in the glory of the Lord. We know that she will always walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near especially as we remember all her quirky sayings and stories and her beautiful soul.

She is survived by her sons, Seeman Glasscock III of Opelousas, Mitchell Glasscock and wife Phyllis of Opelousas, and Matthew Glasscock of Opelousas; daughters, Catherine Dupre and husband Mickey of Opelousas and Elizabeth Zerangue and husband Darryl of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents, Urban and Enola Fruge; husband, Seeman Glasscock, Jr.; son, Gary Glasscock; daughter, Monica D. Glasscock; grandchildren, Chadwick Soileau and Donovan Soileau; brothers, Dr. John Fruge and Cliff Fruge; and sisters, Freddie Parent and Gussie Manuel.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
